Work / Galen Marten
A one-man band, with a site that books him, sells the shirt and keeps the list warm.
Galen Marten plays guitar, harmonica, percussion with his feet and sings, all at once, across Ohio. Thirty years in and five hundred shows deep, he needed one place that handles the whole operation: dates, booking, media, merch and a mailing list.
I built the identity and the site, wired the store to Printful and the email to Resend, so the whole thing runs without him touching a spreadsheet.
01 Identity
Set in type. Cut into a signature.
He is the act, so the name does the work. The wordmark started as type and was taken apart and rebuilt into a custom lockup: the G’s crossbar swings up into a flourish that becomes the tail of the A, the two lines lean like they’re mid-strum, and ‘music’ tucks in underneath in a second voice. From there it flexes: a stacked version with his guitar and cajon above it for tall spaces, and a guitar-pick badge that survives being embroidered on a cap.
02 Website
One place that runs the whole act.
A working musician's site has to do more than look good. This one carries the show calendar with directions and add-to-calendar on every date, a booking path that lands in his inbox, the media shelf for videos and releases, and the store. The merch is wired to Printful, so an order prints and ships without him holding stock, and the mailing list runs on Resend, so a new show or a release goes out from the same place the site lives.

03 Live Free
A single, and the shirt that came with it.
Live Free was written for Am I Happy?, a documentary Galen scored and shot with Freedomology Films. The cover puts the title on a road heading somewhere out of frame, and the same lettering went straight onto a tee, which is the version most people end up wearing to the shows.
04 Merch
Print on demand, nothing in a garage.
The whole store is print-on-demand through Printful. He picks the piece, it goes up on the site, and an order prints and ships on its own. No inventory in a spare room, no stock to haul to a show, and the margin still works at bar-gig prices.
